This was my first time making a small moments video. I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to do or how I was supposed to do it. I ended up with this video for my video editing class. I am taking this as a junior. I ended up making my video of two friends and myself getting pizza and eating it in the car.
I took this project in this direction because it was a way for me to settle down and try to make a starting spot. This is only my first one. I know that it isn’t a great video. that’s okay because I have plenty of room to develop and produce better quality. Originally, I started with film from a basketball game. I sadly discovered that I did not have enough film overall to make a quality video like I had hoped. Thus, I had to find a last minute small moment to film. After a basketball practice, three of us decided we would go grab some food together and I thought of this as my chance. I wasn’t able to get lots of quality, video editing types of shots. However, I had plenty of footage to work with and it was lots of fun. I took my video in this direction because it was the best way I could think to try and incorporate some good shots and fun entertainment.
I am probably the proudest of the way I was able to try and get different shots of such a small event. It was a challenge for me to try and be creative with three girls and a pizza inside a pickup. I ended up having a very large amount of footage. I guess one thing I might be proud of is finding certain clips that I could try to use.
Like I have already touched on, there were lots of challenges that I came across while trying to make this video. The first was not having enough footage to make a video. The learning moment for me here was to check my total time during the event so that I know if I need to gather more. I’d say another challenge was trying to find different shots while stuck in a pickup. Learning from this, I might spend more time focused on ways to do this. I also faced challenges while editing of know what clips to use and how to piece them all together. I think that it would’ve been better for me to spend more time editing. There were lots of challenges I found along the way with this project. there is something to be learned from each one.
If I was to do the project over again I would start from scratch. I would have liked to have done it at more of a set location. Someone’s house would have been much better than a car. This way I could have gotten more angles and different shots. It also would have been better to have a set activity. Playing pool or cards would have been much better and easier to edit in my opinion. There are lots of changes I would like to make and things I would like to have done different.
